Early Life

Work experience

Composition has become an increasingly important part of Christiaan’s musical work. In 2025, he was selected for the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Bridge Program. In 2026, his composition Berkshire Sunrise was performed at Greenwood Music Camp as part of a program celebrating the 10th anniversary of Luna Composition Lab. At Greenwood, he also performed bassoon in chamber works by Irving Fine, George Enescu, and Paul Hindemith, alongside his orchestral and choral activities.

Christiaan’s vocal accomplishments include first place in the Youth Category of the 2025 NATS NYC Competition and first place in the Children’s Category in 2022. He was also selected for the American Choral Directors Association National Treble Honor Choir in 2025 and Elementary Honor Choir in 2023. Earlier musical experiences included the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and a solo appearance with the New York University Children’s Chorus at NYU’s Skirball Center.

His interests extend well beyond classical music. Christiaan has studied acting and dance, played competitive sports, explored technology and video production, and remains fascinated by science, travel, storytelling, and what his younger résumé described as “the mysteries of the universe (and multiverse).”

Whether performing from the orchestra, singing from the stage, or hearing musicians bring one of his own compositions to life, Christiaan is happiest when he is making, exploring, and sharing music.
